Female hair loss... due to stress?
I saw my primary care physician and brought up my recent hair loss concern. I have been losing more than the average 50 100 hairs per day. I am losing 100 from brushing alone Not to mention shampooing, conditioning, and drying. He tested my thyroid and everything came back normal. I am starting to get worried. Just running my hands through my hair and I will get 3 6 hairs almost every time. I am wondering if I should go see my dermatologist my doctor's recommendation . However, I am 85 % sure that the hair loss is due to stress job, ending of a relationship and possibly from my sudden stop of oral contraceptives. About 5 years ago, I lost about 2 3 of my hair. I went to a derm and she said it was stress and suggested I start Rogaine for women. It took 2 years for my hair to start looking normal again... which is why I'm so paranoid and concerned now. I would be devastated if that happened to me again. It was the hardest time of my life. Do I save myself the trip and money to see the dermatologist? Or should I go as a precaution? I would hate to hear the same thing that it's stress and it will stop on its own.Does anyone know of any products that truly work to combat hair loss? Any advice would be really appreciated.

I don't dye my hair or use other harsh chemicals. Can anyone help me, what should I do to stop the hair loss and itchy, hot scalp? Is my scalp too dry or something? Btw I am female. Thanks
How much hair loss can I expect from taking Topamax?
I just started taking topamax for my migraines , but have already noticed more hair than usual falling out, and even quite a few hairs from my arms and legs as well. Not that I couldn't use some thinning of my hair anyway, I'm just wondering how much I can expect, or at least how much other people have experienced.Any personal experience?

Why do some medications cause hair loss?
I m taking Asacol, medication from UC, for two month. Recently my hair started to fall out a lot. I suspect it is from the medication. I want to know why some medications can cause hair loss. Do they wash out some important elements or something else? Also is there any way to prevent his?
Hair loss and medicines?
My friend started losing her hair in November 2008. This wasn't bald patches, but general hairloss all over. She had been Lansoprazole 30mg tablets for about 2 years with no problems. She stopped using them for 11 months, in case the problem with her hair resulted from the tablets, but her hair continued to fall out throughout these months. In October 2009, she began to use the tablets again. 3 weeks later, her hair ceased falling out for 6 months, but now, has again started to fall out again in the last 3 months May 2010 . Could the tablets have anything to do with this, as it is a rare side effect of them? Also, she saw a doctor in February 2009. She was told that she suffers from chronic telogen effluvium related to nutritional problems and low iron. After taking iron supplements, her iron levels have become better. Her ferritin is now 50 mg, a rise from 21. Could the hair loss still be related to iron deficiency, despite being higher? An answer to both of these questions would be useful. By the way, she is 49.
Hair loss-off and on?
My mother has recently been complaining of a loss of hair. She is concerned that something is wrong with her or that there is a lack of some supplement that she is not getting. She previously came to me about this problem and naturally as a professional chemist I did some research. I had figured that it was a mineral deficiency with zinc, iron and or an amino acid, namely L lysine. I am aware of the biochemical pathways that each metal is used for and completely understand the role of L lysine. I need guidance on how to correct the problem with my mother's hair loss and to get her to eat more food containing these essentials. Other things to consider Within the past year she has lost over 100lbsIn 1998 she was diagnosed by renowned physician Mark J. Pellegrino, MD with FibromyalgiaShe currently takes supplements of D 3, Multivitamin, and B Complex every other day Are those the right combonations zinc, iron, and l lysine? Could there be more problems and what could be done to stop her hair loss? The thyroid was tested, it was normal.
