Question: Does sudden hair loss mean sickness?
(Posted by: Aubrianne on 2010-07-16 11:13:53)
I've noticed my hair has been falling out in a larger quantity than usual. When I comb my hair in the shower, a lot of hair has been falling out. I've heard it could be a vitamin deficiency, or a symptom of sickness. I'm certain it can't be because of my age. What could cause this?

Hair loss can be a number or things, it can be harmless but can also be serious. Hair loss could be because of sudden change of diet, stress, new shampoo, washing your hair to much, infection , vitamin deficency, lack of sleep. Many many things the list goes on for ever. i suggest you wait a few weeks if it doesn't change a trip to the GP may be good just to check there is nothing dangerous. Good luck, don't get to worried

If you suddenly observe more hair loss than usual your diet could be the culprit. Hair loss happens when you take low calories to reduce your weight. Excess dose of vitamin A also causes hair loss. Anemia, low blood count or thyroid problems could also be responsible. As you are young, if you find there is growth, you need not worry much. Anyhow, if continues, better to consult a doctor.

You may be suffering from DHT sensitivity; it is a hormone that both men and women carry but in certain people, oversensitivity to it causes hair in select areas to grow progressively weaker and thinner until stopping altogether. Bosley's own hair restoration program harvests your remaining healthy, hair follicles and implants them into affected areas using microsurgery to create a new, healthy, natural hairline.
