*facepalm* Causes for hairloss: 1) Thyroid problems 2) Other medical problems 3) Side effects from certain medication (anti-depressants can cause hair thinning) 4) Genetics 5) Poor diet 6) Poor circulation to the scalp 7) Stress 8) Terrible shampooing/ conditioning habits How to counteract these causes: 1) Go to the doctor and get blood work done. If you have a thyroid problem, they will get you on medication/ conduct surgery and your hair will be just fine. As well as the rest of you. 2) Again, just go to the doctor and ask. It could be done when you ask about your thyroid. 3) Look at all the medications you take and see if they ever casued hairloss. If not, then you're safe. If you been taking the medication for a year or so without noticing hair problems, then chances are that medication isn't causing baldness. 4) Are the men in your family bald? If so, did they go bald at an early age? No? Then chances are this isn't you. However, you should know that early balding is due to too much DHT, which means you have too much testosterone. You should, I don't know, take advantage of that instead of whining about your hair. Either that or get Kirkland's Minoxidil and hope it works for you. 5) This is self explanatory. Any type of depressant (alcohol, etc) or stimulant (caffeine, etc.) will cause your body to stress, even if it makes you feel "relaxed ", this will eventually lead to hairloss if you're meant to go bald later down the line. As for the diet, junk food and other fatty foods that don't provide your body with decent nutrition will eventually lead to hairloss. Oh and, a lack of exercise is also a cause for hairloss, so get that fixed ASAP too. 6) Stop wearing hats or tight helmets. Gently rub the balding/ thinning areas with the pads of your finger for 5 minutes every day, maybe even twice a day. ESPECIALLY after you're done working out. 7) Ease up the stress load. However, when you lose hair via stress, it usually comes out very fast and in patches. Balding, however, doesn't fall out that fast. First it starts with thinning, followed by casually falling out over the course of 1~3 years. 8) Some people are too rough when washing their hair. They might even wash their hair when it's half dry. It should be a gentle scrubbing motion with the pads of your fingers for shampooing, which should last no longer than a minute. Make sure to rinse out the shampoo complete. Next, apply the conditioner, massage it in for a minute until it's covering your scalp and ends of your hairs. Let is sit there for 2-5 minutes as you wash the rest of your body, then gently wash it out, using your fingers to sepereate hairs (not pull or toss it around) to get out all the extra conditioner. Be sure to use GOOD shampoo/ conditioners. If you buy cheapo shampoo/ conditioner, it won't be all that great for your hair. Try herbal essences. Two big bottles of the stuff will run you 10 dollars in total AND it works great. Lastly, know this, going bald isn't all that uncommon for a 20 year old. Some men are completely bald by age 20. You should also know there is a difference between going bald and having maturing hair. Some men go thin at the crown and lose a small spot of hair up there, and that's about it. You should also know that losing 50-100 strands of hair (from your head, obviously) is NORMAL. Also, constantly brushing your hair or tugging on it will make the healthy strands fall out faster, which is BAD, but won't make you go bald unless you are actually balding, then it speeds up the process. So chances are you are fretting over nothing. And if you do go bald, who cares? Your hair isn't you. It's dead protein on top of your head. Shave it all off if it gets to the point where it looks like you have a bird's nest on your head. Women won't find you any less attractive. Now if your hair is the only thing that gives you confidence(which is the case for so many men out there), then maybe you should hit the gym more often instead of worrying about losing your hair. |
